Pakistan Bar Council Refutes PTI Chief Justice Objection

 

The Pakistan Bar Council refused these objections on Tuesday, saying that the Chief Justice of Pakistan. Justice Qazi Faez Isa had been falsely accused by the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).

In a press release strongly worded and dense with legalese to match its addressee. The council trashed PTI’s demand for Justice Qazi Faez Isa to recuse himself from party-related cases. It said that it knew him to be a person of impeccable integrity, competence, and fairness.

“The pressure being put on the Hon’ble Chief Justice is part of a bigger design to undermine the independence and integrity of the judiciary. Said the press release. It added that no attempts would be allowed to stigmatize any chief justice or judge merely because they did not fall in line. Some particular forces or vested interests.

On June 1st, PTI’s spokesperson Rauf Hassan appeared’ programme ‘Aaj Shahzeb Khanzada Kay Sath. Where he demanded recusal while speaking during an interview with anchorperson Hamid Mir who asked about party chairman Imran Khan’s tweet calling judges corrupt.

This PTI action caused the Pakistan Bar Council to intervene and express solidarity with Justice Qazi Faez Isa. They criticized PTI’s efforts to manipulate the judiciary and stressed their duty of following the rule of law as well as maintaining judicial independence.

In a press release. It was stated that any decision made about Justice Qazi Faez Isa’s involvement in PTI cases would be based on legal considerations alone. Without political pressure or interference. The statement also underlined the need for an impartial judiciary. Which is necessary for ensuring justice for all citizens in Pakistan.

Overall, what PTI did drew strong criticism from the legal community. Which showed unwavering support for Justice Qazi Faez Isa while defending its autonomy from external manipulation.
