Donald Trump met Viktor Orbán in Florida on Thursday night time. Just weeks after the Hungarian prime minister met Russia’s Vladimir Putin. His go-to to Mar-a-Lago in Palm Beach is the present day, and he is in a series of conferences between the two leaders. Orbán has publicly recommended Trump’s re-election bid and these days expect a high chance of President Joe Biden losing the election.
Peace Mission 5.0
In a tweet, Orbán referred to the visit as peace mission 5.0, stating, We discussed ways to make peace. The good news of the day is that he will solve it! Orbán, who has been criticized in Europe for his pro-Russian views, remains famous amongst Trump supporters and US conservatives. He has lately met with China’s Xi Jinping and Ukraine’s Volodymyr Zelensky as a part of his self-defined peace initiative.
Criticism and Support
Despite his controversial stance, Orbán maintains strong ties with Trump. On Wednesday, the Russian Izvestia noted that such peace initiatives might be futile but suggested that Orbán could pass information to Trump’s team. Earlier this week, Orbán praised Trump in German media, calling him a “self-made man” with a unique political approach. He expressed that a Trump victory would benefit global politics, highlighting Trump’s record of not initiating wars and promoting peace.
EU Presidency and Critique of Biden
Orbán, whose country currently holds the presidency of the European Union, criticized the Biden administration for not resolving the warfare in Ukraine. He expressed the wish that new leadership might deliver new possibilities. Orbán became the primary EU chief to return to Trump’s 2016 presidential bid, although his first White House visit did not arise until May 2019.
Strengthening Alliances
Trump has taken more time out of power for Orbán. In Dallas, Trump denounced globalists and expressed solidarity with Texas conservatives. Orbán has strengthened ties through CPAC Hungary, which was created to bolster his relationships with US conservatives.
Continued Endorsement
In March of this year, after another meeting with Trump in Florida, Orbán posted on X/Twitter that we need leaders in the world who are respected and can bring peace. He is one of them! Come back and bring us peace, Mr President.” Trump reciprocated in April, sending a video message to CPAC Hungary, where he praised Hungarian patriots for fighting to rescue Western civilization and referred to Orbán as a great man.
Orbán’s Vision
Orbán has boasted about creating an illiberal democracy in Hungary. Claims that progressives have unleashed a virus of migration, gender, and the woke movement. His controversial views and actions continue to garner criticism and support on the global stage.
