PPP Reorganization in Central Punjab Delayed Beyond Deadline

100 days have passed since Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari set a deadline for the reorganization of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) in Central Punjab. Therefore, appointment of office bearers like presidents, general secretaries, information secretaries and other officials in Lahore and 26 districts of Central Punjab has not been completed yet.

Task Assigned to Raja Pervaiz Ashraf

On May 10, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari had given the responsibility of completing the reorganization within 100 days to Raja Pervaiz Ashraf. Sources said that factions and personal biases were found during the process of organizing in Lahore chapter while similar situation was witnessed in other divisions and districts which led to overall disappointment. Failure to release new appointments’ notifications halted organizational activities at all levels.

Current Status of Reorganization Efforts

Hassan Murtaza, General Secretary PPP Central Punjab talked to Daily Dunya and claimed that lists for Central Punjab’s reorganization have been prepared at all levels. He further added that these lists will be presented before Bilawal Bhutto Zardari upon his return from abroad. But despite this preparation, party could not finalize new appointments publicly which stopped it from growing organizationally active.

Implications & Future Steps

The delay in reorganizing might make it difficult for the party to effectively manage and coordinate its activities in central region; also unresolved appointments along with ongoing factional issues may affect performance as well as strategy planning for upcoming political events by party.

Therefore PPP leadership needs to expedite appointment finalization while also sorting out internal disputes; because until this is done nobody can tell how much does it still take time before everything is put into place again so that they can start working properly under new management across entire area.
