Maryam Nawaz, Punjab’s Chief Minister, expedited the legal process to establish an Enforcement Regulatory Authority.
During a special meeting chaired by the Chief Minister. They discussed amendments to laws and rules for its establishment. And outlined the setup of a District Enforcement Regulatory Board in each district.
Meanwhile, the Punjab Enforcement Regulatory Authority will effectively fight inflation. A Sub-Divisional Enforcement Officer will ensure the law’s implementation at the technical level. Forty officials. Including an enforcement officer in each tehsil. Would monitor and regulate the prices of essential commodities.
According to the briefing, movable encroachments will be removed to widen streets and markets. The Deputy Commissioner will head the District Enforcement Regulatory Board at the district level. In contrast, the Enforcement Officer will monitor and enforce enforcement actions at the technical level. Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz said hoarders cannot exploit public interests.
In her message on World Sports Journalists Day, she also noted that sports journalists play a crucial role in promoting healthy activities through sports.
Maryam Nawaz had issued these directions due to rising inflation rates and a lack of specific authority to control prices and ensure the availability of essential items around the clock. The move aims at streamlining a monitoring system vis-Ã -vis pricing mechanism to prevent hoarding and ensure that encroachments don’t deny people access to markets or roads. By appointing enforcement officers at different levels across all districts and creating regulatory boards within each area, the government intends to strengthen its capacity against inflation management while safeguarding consumers’ rights.
The initiative taken by CM reflects the need for a robust legal framework capable of addressing economic challenges while always putting public welfare first. Thus, it should not surprise anyone if such boards become instrumental in price control. Especially when dealing with manipulations in different markets.
Seeing sports journalism as a vital part of healthy living demonstrates. Maryam Nawaz’s commitment to creating a better society is based on the recognition of sports journalism. She calls upon various stakeholders to focus on promoting healthy lifestyles among people.
