KP vs Federal Govt Power Disputes

KP Reaction to Allegations of Grid Station Occupation

Barrister Saif reminded Maryam Nawaz that following allegations about the occupation of grid stations, innocent protesters. Security forces directly fired upon pregnant women on the streets of Model Town.
He criticized the severe load shedding that has exasperated citizens. Asserting that Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur has maintained control over the situation. And has protected federal installations from the enraged public.

KP Issues with Load Shedding

Saif highlighted the unjust load shedding that has severely affected the residents, emphasizing the need for equitable electricity distribution. He said the provinces, under the leadership of Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur, could manage the situation and ensure the safety of federal installations while people were angry.

Remarks by PTI leader Shaukat Yousafzai

During an interview, PTI leader Shaukat Yousafzai asked who arranged funds for Maryam Nawaz Sharif’s frequent project inaugurations. He alleged that the federal government is financing these projects while sidelining others. He added that neglecting other regions should not occur if the federal government funds these projects.

Load Shedding Schedules Are Not Followed Uniformly

Yousafzai also said that load-shedding schedules are made but must be followed uniformly. He stated that there are only two-meter readers in his constituency, which comprises ten union councils in the Shangla district, and there is a need for more allocation.

Electricity Production and Needs of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa

Yousafzai noted that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa produces 6300 megawatts of power against interest of 2600 megawatts; nonetheless, it gets somewhere between 1800 and 2000 megawatts. The difference between production and allocation has created considerable difficulties for energy management within the province.

Financial Disputes With the Federal Government

The KP representative claimed that the federation owed 1600 billion rupees to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and requested the provincial accounts office to release this amount gradually as needed to address public needs appropriately.

The call for the federal government to amend its approach underscores the growing tension between provincial and federal authorities. Persistent issues like load shedding and financial disputes require urgent attention to prevent public unrest and ensure the fair distribution of resources.
