The Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa directed a gathering on social safety nets. At this meeting, the Chief Minister directed the relevant authorities to devise better ways of using social safety net funds.
Allocation and Data Collection
The meeting decided to use the dowry fund to arrange the mass marriages of 4,000 girls across the province. We will collect data on eligible girls from all districts. Chief Minister Amin Gandapur emphasized that the amount provided should be sufficient not only for the marriage but also to support the girls in setting up a livelihood. This approach ensures that the beneficiaries are able to sustain themselves financially post-marriage.
District Quotas and Additional Provisions
We will give each district a quota for the mass marriage program based on its population. This method ensures equitable distribution and reaches the maximum number of beneficiaries. Additionally, the Chief Minister instructed that high-quality electric wheelchairs should be provided to needy individuals with disabilities. He also emphasized that every Zakat committee must include at least three women. Promoting gender inclusivity and adequately addressing women’s needs and perspectives.
Administrative Changes and Proposals
They agreed to extend the tenure of the Zakat Committee from 3 to 5 years.This extension aims to provide continuity and stability in the administration of Zakat funds, allowing for more consistent and effective support for people in need.
Philanthropic Contribution Fund
The Chief Minister also agreed to the proposal of establishing a Philanthropic Contribution Fund. This fund will aim to garner contributions from philanthropists.And utilizing them for social welfare projects. He instructed that the draft amendments to the relevant law be presented by Monday. This fund is expected to enhance the province’s capacity to support various social welfare initiatives. Thereby improving the quality of life for its residents.
