Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman’s , the leader of Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan, has warned that ‘if authorities take any step to stop sit-in in Islamabad on July 12th, then there will be severe implications and repercussions.’ He further stated that this protest would continue until the government delivered relief.
Key Demands and Agenda
Hafiz Naeem stated that their agenda includes seeking relief in electricity bills and reversing the burden imposed on the public due to the IMF conditions. He accused MQM and PPP of colluding with K-Electric to ruin Karachi. He described the alliance between IPPs and political parties as diabolical. The “Haq Do Awam Ko” (Give Rights to the People) movement has been initiated, and women and families will also join the sit-in. While in contact with opposition parties, he emphasized that Jamaat-e-Islami will not be part of any alliance.

He called for ending the privileges and free electricity provided to the elite.

He announced that the sit-in is not a one or two-day event but will involve extended camping in Islamabad. People are encouraged to come prepared for a prolonged stay, and representatives from all segments of society will join to press for their demands. Hafiz Naeem highlighted that social media remains beyond their control despite the government’s efforts to control the narrative through TV advertisements. He mentioned that Jamaat-e-Islami is open to collaborating with any platform for public issues and can either participate in or invite others to their initiatives.

He emphasized that the sit-in would persist until tangible relief was provided, warning that attempts to suppress the protest would lead to severe repercussions.
