Government Commitment on Lawyers’ Safety: Azam Tarar Speaks

Federal Law Minister Azam Nazeer Tarar stated that the recent killing of lawyers is a test case for the government.

On Saturday, he addressed a ceremony in Attock, expressing deep grief over the tragic incident.  He assured the victims’ families that the government would take all possible measures to provide them justice and support. “Justice will be served for our friends. We will do everything possible for Israr and Zulfiqar Bhai’s families,” he added.

Describing it as a textbook anti-terrorism case. Minister Tarar underlined that lawyers play a vital role in society. A lawyer presents his case before the court.

He remarked that judges decide cases based on merit, and their judgments reflect the merit of each case, He added, emphasizing that society should not treat this brutal murder leniently. No society can flourish without attorneys. Who constitute an essential class of any nation,” he stated.

Referring back to this incident, Mr.Tarar stressed the necessity of taking preventive measures. So that such incidents may not happen again. “We must think how to stop these things from happening…

. He referred to the incident at the Attock district session judge’s office complex yesterday morning when two assailants opened fire indiscriminately, killing innocent people before security forces quickly shot them dead. However, the attack caused great harm and led to many lost lives due to the negligence shown by both sides, making it difficult to determine who was at fault.

Minister Azam Tarar said that lawyers are the voice of justice, which cannot be silenced through force. “You can buy lawyers, but you can only win them over with love, sincerity, and your actions,” he said. He added that attempts to snatch rights from them had miserably failed because these fighters for justice were indomitable.

He paid tribute to the legal community for their unwavering support of democracy during difficult times. “When democracy passed through its worst period, lawyers stood like a rock wall.”

The Azam Tararspeech highlighted how deeply these killings have affected not only individual lives but also the social fabric itself; therefore, ensuring fairness within the system should remain a priority at all costs. Robust laws must exist to protect not just citizens against criminals but also the government itself against accusations of unfairness arising out of these very same laws.
