Jamaat-e-Islami Protests Against Load Shedding and High Bills

 

Labeling the budget as anti-people, Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman, Jamaat-e-Islami chief, has announced a countrywide protest against load shedding and high electricity bills. He addressed a press conference at Mansoorah to kick off the resistance movement.

Rejecting the Budget  Jamaat-e-Islami

In his media talk, Naeem-ur-Rehman said he firmly rejected this oppression budget as unacceptable. Emphasizing that the protest by  would be peaceful, he remarked that Section 144 in Punjab is a colonial law and that the voice of justice can never be silenced.

Impact of Load Shedding and Electricity Bills Jamaat-e-Islami

He pointed out that severe summer heat and prolonged power outages nationwide affect people badly. Criticizing the government for burdening the masses with substantial electricity bills, known as ‘electric bombs’, he questioned how the finance minister could privatize without proper authority.

Call for Nationwide Participation Jamaat-e-Islami

He appealed to the nation and requested them to participate in organized district-level protests.

He cautioned against leaving the country at the mercy of those who imposed themselves through Form 47 in dubious ways. Instead, citizens should rise against the oppressive elite and avoid hopelessness.
Transparency in IPP Agreements Jamaat-e-Islami

Naeem-ur-Rehman demanded transparency about Independent Power Producers (IPPs) agreements under the Right Information Act, ensuring people’s right to know. He called for an immediate review of these contracts to address public concerns.

Support for CPEC and Critique of Tax Policies

While supporting the political consultation process between Pakistan and China on CPEC., He mentioned that  was also part of these consultations. This inclusion signifies a broadening of dialogue.
