The heatwave that has hit Sindh province’s capital city, Karachi, and fears of a further surge in temperatures led to the delay of metric exams.

According to SEBK officials, the Sindh education board and universities directed the Secondary Education Board Karachi (SEBK) to postpone matriculation examinations scheduled from 21 May to 27 May. They announced that papers scheduled for 28 May would proceed as planned, but they will reschedule all papers due between 21 and 27 May after the SEBK publishes a new date sheet.
On 16 May, the Met Department also forecast severe heatwaves across most parts of the country during the next ten days.

The Meteorological Department advisory said upper air cyclonic circulations lie over western Rajasthan, with its trough extending up to lower levels over northwest India and its neighbourhood. A shallow westerly wave is affecting the upper parts of the country.

The forecast maximum temperature in Sindh is about four to six degrees Celsius above normal during the day from Sunday(May 21)to Tuesday(May 23). In Punjab, the maximum temperature is about four to six degrees Celsius above normal during the day from Sunday (May 21)to Monday(May 22).
