Wise Customers Hit by Evolve Bank Data Breach

 

On the last day of the working week, Wise, a global technology company specializing in digital banking, said it had been hacked, and personal information about its clients might have been compromised following a cyber attack on Evolve Bank and Trust.

Wise Unclear Fallout from Evolve Data Breach

The news highlights that the fallout from the Evolve data breach on third-party companies—and their customers and users—is still unclear, and it seems to include unknown companies and startups.

Data Shared with Evolve

Wise said it shared information about U.S. customers with Evolve, including names, addresses, dates of birth, contact details, and Social Security numbers or Employer Identification Numbers. For non-U.S. customers, Wise also shared “ano” her identity document number.

Wise Details of the Evolve Data Breach

According to the organization, in May of this year, the LockBit cybercrime syndicate, known as ransomware, executed an attack on their system. This occurred when one employee clicked a harmful URL.
