The Price of a Flour Sack Increases by Rs. 1700

The sack of refined flour previously sold for 7300 rupees now costs 9000 rupees, whereas the sack of red flour weighing 79 kilograms rose from 6800 rupees to 8400 rupees.

Islamabad: The price of a bag of flour has risen by Rs.1700. As per the President of the Capital Nanbai Association, flour has surged. Reports revealed that the sack of refined flour that used to be available at the cost of seven thousand three hundred (7,300) rupees now stands at nine thousand (9,000) after an increase of one thousand seven hundred (1,700) while that for red flour weighing seventy-nine (79) kilograms jumped from six thousand eight hundred (6,800) to eight thousand four hundred (8,400).

According to him, the price of LPG has also increased by Rs.50 per kilogram. Therefore, roti will be sold at Rs. 25 and naan at Rs. 30 in Islamabad from July 10th, as announced today by officials in the wake of rising food prices. On Thursday this week, the All Pakistan Flour Mills Association said they would stop supplying flour’s nationwide on July 11th.

On Saturday, Chairman Flour Mills Association Asim Raza told media persons in Lahore that the government had imposed a five-and-a-half percent tax on sales of production concerning the atta price in the market. This new tax would make a twenty-kilogram sack fifty rupees more expensive. We demand an immediate end to withholding tax from the federal government.

He explained that mill owners want mills closed immediately, but my deadline is Wednesday. From Thursday, though, we will stop taking supplies into the marketplaces. During the general body meeting, the Pakistan Flour Mills Association decided to halt wheat grinociation. Whereas the Food Department suspended licenses for three mills and issued show cause notices of 52 points due to increases in prices and mismanagement, The spokesman of the Food Department said rather than price increases and poor management at these fifty-two outlets. In Lahore Division, 135, Faisalabad 15, Sargodha 71, Rawalpindi 147, Gujranwala 39, Gujrat Division42, Sahiwal33, Multan106, and DG Khan3 food points were checked.

Punjab’s Provincial Food Minister Bilal Yasin has said they have taken action against it. Those who maintained false records and sold expensive flour to the market. Officials are actively compiling lists of tariffs for all flour brands in the market. They will suspend licenses for dealers and mills supplying expensive flour sacks. District administration officers and the Food Department should remove impediments to providing relief to the public. On the orders of the Chief Minister of Punjab, officials monitor market rates daily.
