Tahir Ashrafi Criticizes US Congress Resolution on Pakistan

The head of the Pakistan Ulema Council, Allama Hafiz Tahir Ashrafi, strongly disapproves of the U.S. Congress’s current resolution, stating that it insults the mandate of Pakistani human beings.

Opposition to Foreign Interference

During a press convention at the Lahore Press Club, Allama Tahir Ashrafi emphasized that no U.S., including the United States, has the right to interfere in Pakistan’s inner affairs. He wondered why the U.S. no longer deals with humanitarian troubles in Palestine, highlighting a perceived double standard in its foreign coverage.

Disappointment Over Sunni Ittehad Council’s Stance

Allama Ashrafi expressed his disappointment with the Sunni Ittehad Council’s opposition to the resolution condemning the U.S. resolution in the National Assembly. He noted that the resolution presented in the National Assembly also mentioned Kashmir and Palestine. He argued that if the Sunni Ittehad Council had reservations about any clause, they should have discussed it constructively rather than opposing it outright.

Questioning Allegiances

Ashrafi criticized the Sunni Ittehad Council’s stance: “You claimed to say ‘Absolutely Not’ to the U.S., so after tearing the resolution, it is fair to ask where your allegiance lies.” He suggested that their actions contradicted their earlier stance and warranted scrutiny.

Equal Rights for All

He called for a unified strategy to end extremist attitudes, emphasizing the need for inclusivity and mutual respect.

Promoting Unity During Muharram

He urged for the promotion of unity and solidarity during Muharram, stressing that the constitution grants equal rights to non-Muslims and that everyone in Pakistan enjoys complete religious freedom. He appealed for the message of unity and solidarity to be spread widely during this significant period.

National Unity Against Terrorism

The head of the Pakistan Ulema Council further stressed the need for national unity against terrorism. He expressed support for the efforts of the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC) and highlighted the importance of fully implementing Operation Radd-ul-Fasaad and the National Action Plan.

Allama Hafiz Tahir Ashrafi believes Pakistan can effectively counter internal and external challenges by promoting unity and protecting all citizens’ rights.
