Recently, the incessant rainfall in different areas of Sindh turned out to be catastrophic. Causing losses in terms of damaged houses, crops, and even roads and railways. The impacted regions include Hyderabad, Thatta, Sujawal, Mirpur Khas. And Tharparkar, where many people have lost their shelters and live begging in the open sky now. Sindh and Balochistan Floods Extensive Damage and Crisis.
Overlapping Commission and Territory in Sindh and Balochistan
In Hyderabad, Thatta, Sujawal, Mirpur Khas, and Tharparkar regions, flood waters have not receded as they are supposed to. In Dadu, people don’t have any option except for taking boats as the typical land transport means are either blocked or wholly damaged. Even in Badin, many regions are underwater, including some neighborhoods and houses, which threatens the self-draining of the water inside the buildings.
Communities Cut Off and Waiting for Assistance Sindh and BalochistanÂ
Similarly, in Umerkot, Sanghar, and Tando Allahyar, rain victims are witnessed lying, waiting for aid under the blue skies. In Tando Adam, there are 50 villages currently suffering from flooding, in addition to the people’s own suffering, which contributes to the crisis of the affected people. Again, rains have created flooding diseases in many places, whereby many are cut off with no food or basic needs.
Ongoing Flood Issues in Hyderabad and Mirpur Khas
In Hyderabad and Mirpur Khas, a dozen low-lying areas are still under water, and residents are requesting help. The town of Dadu is significant, where water still encircles over 150 villages courtesy of inundated streams and water drains. With water covering the roads, the people have started using boats as their cheap yet effective means of transport.
Floods Expand Toward Balochistan
The flood situation is not only in Sindh. Pouring rain persists across many cities of Balochistan, including Naseerabad, Gandakha, Jhal Magsi, and Bolan areas, which are receiving bone-drenching rains and flooding as well. There has been a rise in rivers and canals, including Laure di Banda, Nari Bank, and Rabi Canal, flooding the surrounding areas. The cutting of the Rabi canal has allowed rivers to enter Manjho Shori, and Naseerabad has been inundated over several villages.
Devastation and disruption of Livelihoods due to Infrastructure damage
In northern Balochistan, various districts have experienced flash floods due to heavy rains, which have damaged infrastructural structures. The ancient Shelabagh railway tunnel has been considerably compromised, and many adjacent roads have been claimed by floods. The rains are back again, and this time, they come more heavily, staggering floods. Which are still devastating this region, cutting off most of the assisting agencies from the affected areas.
