Shakeel Ahmad Khan has resigned from the provincial cabinet as the Minister of Construction and Communication for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The move is unprecedented, given that allegations were made against the province’s current administration, which includes its Chief Minister and other influential figures. The resignation marks a significant milestone that raises questions about honesty and management within local government structures.
Allegations of Corruption and Interference Shakeel Ahmad Khan
In his statement withdrawal, Shakeel Ahmad Khan did not beat around the bush. He indicted corruption among leaders and singled out Chief Minister Mehmood Khan as responsible for all these illegal activities. Mr Shakeel further noted that working with such people under such circumstances became impossible, prompting his decision to resign from office immediately.
Mr Shakeel Khan also alleged direct interference in his department by Ali Amin Gandapur, another influential figure in the KP Government. According to him, this was part of broader corruption networks that have bedeviled their regime so far, mismanagement being one among many others. He expressed disappointment over what he called a loss of direction by the current provincial administration, saying they have strayed away from their original ideals.
Differences on Principles with the Chief Minister Shakeel Ahmad Khan
Shakeel Ahmad Khan gave the lack of principles shared with Imran Khan’s initial vision for PTI founder as the main reason he resigned from serving under this Chief Executive Officer (CEO). He said that there are specific core values that should guide any leader.
Unfortunately, our CM threw those out along the way, which led to the governance crisis currently affecting various regions nationwide, including the home province of KPK, Pakistan.
Shakeel Khan didn’t just make a personal decision to resign; he actively revolted against what he saw as a systemic failure within the Peshawar Valley government setup.
According to Mr Shakeel, this constitutes betrayal by those once most trusted.
Ali Amin Gandapur responded that Shakeel’s resignation would not make any difference since his post had already been declared vacant. He added that they have not yet received any written official letter of resignation from Shakeel Khan. Still, it doesn’t matter because a committee within the government has already prepared a summary, which recommended Shakheel’s notification and sent it to the governor, thus making him no longer part of the current cabinet reshuffle plans.
Implications for the Provincial Government Shakeel Ahmad Khan
Shakeel Ahmad Khan’s quitting office might create a political crisis in Peshawar Valley, where PTI leads its administration. The allegations against top leaders, including Chief Minister Mehmood Khan, are grave if they put question marks on honesty levels within such offices. The incident could also trigger an accountability process. Hence, more members are either stepping down voluntarily or through forceful removals, as well as possibly reshuffling among various ministries at the provincial level, depending on how things unfold.
Furthermore, Shakeel’s strong words against CM KPK and Ali Amin reflect broader problems bedeviling local leadership structures; therefore, other aggrieved officials may now feel encouraged to speak up, precipitating further instability in the political landscape across KPK Pakistan.
