Shahid Siddique Murder: Son’s Role, 2 Crores Involved

PTI leader and private hospital owner Dr Shahid Siddique was murdered by his son, Qayum Shahid. Police investigations led to Qayum’s arrest, where he confessed to the crime, revealing that he orchestrated his father’s murder due to disagreements over a preferred marriage, insufficient financial support, and his father’s strict behaviour.

Incident Details

Dr. Shahid Siddiq was shot and killed in his car outside the mosque after Friday prayers. The attackers, numbering four, included a shooter who fired five bullets at him. Initially, the police suspected property or financial disputes as the motive. However, during the investigation, evidence pointed towards his son, Qayum Shahid. He was arrested and, under interrogation, admitted to the murder. Qayum confessed that he arranged his father’s killing due to his father’s refusal to allow him to marry the woman of his choice, the limited financial support he received, and his father’s overall strictness.

Planning and Execution

Qayum revealed that he had previously attempted to harm his father. Eight months earlier, he had arranged a shooting targeting his father in the Chuhang area, paying 5 million rupees for the attempt. For the murder, the total payment agreed upon was 20 million rupees, with an advance given and the rest to be paid after the deed was done. Police sources confirmed Qayum’s confession after reviewing the evidence.

Aftermath and Revelations

After orchestrating the murder, Qayum continued to act as a grieving son, appealing for justice in the media and shedding tears. He even led his father’s funeral prayer. At the time of the murder, Qayum and his brother Sajid were with their father, while another brother, Taimoor Shahid, filed the initial police report.

The police indicated that they would soon apprehend the shooters. Additional revelations showed that Qayum, along with a close friend, planned his father’s murder. This friend has also been taken into custody. On the day of the murder, a car had been tailing Dr. Shahid Siddique from 9:50 AM, with Qayum inside. The vehicle followed Dr. Siddiq as he withdrew money from the bank to distribute to needy people. CCTV footage captured Qayum monitoring his father’s movements, confirming his involvement.

Investigation and Arrests

During the investigation, the police discovered that Qayum had been meticulous in planning his father’s murder. He collaborated with his friend and hired shooters. Ensuring that the plan was executed on a day when his father would be vulnerable. The arrest of Qayum and the ongoing search for the shooters highlight the thorough approach taken by the police to bring all involved parties to justice.

This tragic incident underscores the severe breakdown in family relationships and the extreme actions taken due to personal grievances. It serves as a grim reminder of the consequences of unresolved familial conflicts. The lengths individuals might go to when driven by desperation and anger.
