Islamabad: Prime Minister’s Advisor Rana Sanaullah has emphasized that the upcoming budget will be finalized with comprehensive input from the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP).
Addressing media representatives in Faisalabad, Rana Sanaullah acknowledged the validity of PPP’s concerns regarding the budget. He clarified that while there has been consultation, there needed to be a greater improvement in the extent of it. He assured that the budget process involves proposals subject to parliamentary debate and scrutiny. Parliament plans to pass the budget before June 30. Currently, the budget is still in the stage of considering recommendations. Sanaullah emphasized that they will approve the final budget after consulting with the PPP, incorporating their suggestions and ensuring reassurances.
Regarding economic matters, Rana Sanaullah highlighted the challenging conditions imposed by the IMF in the past 16 months. However, he noted a degree of easing due to support from friendly nations. He reiterated the government’s commitment to meeting its obligations while reducing expenditures. The government is reducing its size and spending. The Prime Minister plans to address the nation again in a month to update on progress.
Sanaullah also emphasized that democracy remains incomplete until the local government system is fully reinstated. He expressed optimism about progress in this area shortly.
Turning to political affairs, Rana Sanaullah praised Maulana Fazlur Rehman as a leader committed to democracy and peace. He highlighted Maulana’s efforts towards reconciliation, suggesting these efforts will positively impact broader societal dynamics. Sanaullah assured that Parliament will complete its term as per constitutional provisions and legal requirements.
