The reports mentioned here detail Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI)’s preparations for the highly publicized rally planned in Islamabad. There are several roadblocks and terrible traffic jams experienced in the capital city, especially in the Sangjani area. Road blockades have been mounted along GT Road on both sides of the way to control the movement of vehicles as security measures are coming into force.

Sangjani PTI Rally

PTI is conducting a rally in the Sangjani area of Islamabad today. As Barrister Gohar, senior PTI leader informs that the official rally has commenced a little earlier than it was scheduled with the participation of the parties’ partners. Many populaces are expected to follow in thus the reason for the local authority in the availability of adequate security measures well in advance.

Security on High Alert

Considering the rally, the administration of Islamabad district has put the entire city of Islamabad. On high alert which is usually provided for during security situations. Sensitive areas are covered by containers used as barricades, particularly within the red zone. All the containers that are in the red zone section have been restricted to unauthorized people to avoid any disturbances from occurring at the rally.

Restrictions of Access to Roads Both Major and Minor Due to Road Closures.

Apart from the blockades witnessed along the Sangjani Axis GT Road, several other major roads and access points towards Islamabad remain inoperative. For instance:

  • Motorway Chungi No. 26: A barrier has been raised and the entry routes leading into Islamabad have been barricaded.
  • Expressway at Khanna Pul: Traffic has been blocked due to the placement of containers.
  • Murree Road at Faizabad: This has been blocked with containers and traffic between Rawalpindi and Islamabad is affected even more.

In Rawat T Chowk leading to Rawalpindi has been closed down and faiza bad interchange has also been completely closed. Also, some other routes are blocked leading places in Rawalpindi towards the city of Islamabad causing much trouble for daily travelers.

Metro Bus Service Halted

The reason for the sudden stop in any form of public transport is to minimize the risks of having large gatherings when the rally is in full swing.

Alternative Traveling Options for the Residents

However, the district administration has also made provisions for some traveling from Rawalpindi to Islamabad and vice versa. Important routes like Ninth Avenue and Pirwadhai to Golra Mor are still in working order. Moreover, people who are allowed to enter the Red Zone’s boundaries are allowed to do so via Margalla Road.

Worrying Trends from PTI Leadership

On the other hand, regarding this issue, there has been something coming in from PTI leadership. Most particularly from Barrister Saif who is the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s advisor. He voiced worries that the government might try to cancel the NOC for the rally. He pointed out that the rally would go ahead as planned. However, looking at some of the ways that seem to have been devised to recall the NOC.
