The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has demanded that the Chief Election Commissioner should resign on grounds of not ensuring free and fair elections. Speaking at a protest rally in Islamabad, Omar Ayub, a PTI Demands, criticized the Election Commission, saying that the only significant duty of the Chief Election Commissioner is to conduct transparent elections, but he has failed to discharge this responsibility; therefore, he, along with other members of the commission, should immediately tender their resignations. He further said that the Election Commission spent out of their requested budget 16.5 billion rupees.
Barrister Gohar also addressed the gathering, condemning the judiciary for closing its doors before the opposition leader. He said that history will keep in mind those women who have been imprisoned due to PTI struggle. Delayed justice is equivalent to injustice, highlighted by the ongoing battle of PTI members by Gohar.
Unequal Representation: Asad Qaiser’s Concern
PTI leader Asad Qaiser expressed his anger over Parliament, saying our voice is not being heard, which he considered evidently unfair. Each political party is represented differently than the current political environment’s representation principle, emphasized Qaiser. All political parties must be treated equally and adequately represented within the parliamentary system.
The protest rally brought into focus specific issues concerning the electoral process and judicial system relating to PTI’s dissatisfaction against them. Given broader discontentment within PTI towards democracy and governance in Pakistan. Demands were made, such that key election officials should resign. Judiciary processes need criticism alongside the lack of representative nature, coupled with the fairness shown within the current parliament setup, which deserves it, too.
PTI Demands restated their commitment to peaceful protests. While reaffirming the determination behind the continued fight for rights through rallies like this. These, among others, were held countrywide throughout a year-long period. They have been demanding what they perceive as structural problems characterizing both electoral and judicial systems nationally. I hope to create awareness concerning its plight so far and, otherwise, bring about significant changes in Pakistani politics. Forever… MoreMM patriotic spirit shall never wane until brighter days dawn upon our beloved land forever.
