Prime Minister: Implement Pakistan-Tajik Agreements Timely

 

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has emphasized the well-timed execution of accords between Pakistan and Tajikistan, announcing it will strengthen bilateral ties. He expressed these views while speaking to the Ambassador of Tajikistan, Sharifzada Yusuf Toir, who called on him at Prime Minister House.

Warm Welcome to Tajikistan

During his recent visit, the Prime Minister preferred the nice and cozy reception by Tajik President Emomali Rahmon. He noted that each leader held fruitful talks, resulting in the signing of numerous Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) and agreements. He changed into assured that if acted upon rapidly, those understandings could take the connection between the two countries to new heights. The current discussions and agreements are a sizeable step forward for our bilateral members of the family,” he stated, emphasizing that crucial steps must be taken expeditiously to capitalize on this fantastic momentum.

Invitation for Visit to Pakistan

He invited President Rahmon again to visit Pakistan officially, stressing that high-level exchanges are necessary for closer diplomatic relations. The premier disclosed that Islamabad is looking forward to Dushanbe’s participation in next month’s Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Heads of Government meeting in the capital city. “We eagerly await President Rahmon’s arrival and hope to further our cooperation through the SCO platform,” he added.

Proposals Aimed at Enhancing Bilateral Cooperation

Amb Toir presented various proposals during the meeting regarding different vital sectors, such as education, agriculture, and defense, aimed at enhancing bilateral cooperation between the two nations. They also discussed connectivity via land and air routes. He directed relevant Pakistani authorities to coordinate with their counterparts from Tajikistan to come up with a comprehensive plan for implementing those proposals. “We aim to translate these ideas into projects which benefit both countries,” he said.

Regional Connectivity Projects Discussion

The two sides also discussed major regional connectivity projects, including the CASA-1000 project, which aims to promote electricity trade between Central and South Asia. They agreed that such undertakings have the potential to significantly enhance regional cooperation as well as economic integration in the areas involved. The Ambassador thanked the premier for his hospitality, conveyed President Rahmon’s felicitations, and assured that Dushanbe is committed to strengthening its relations with Islamabad. “We want to build a stronger partnership with Pakistan,” he said.

By meeting the Tajik Ambassador, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, they reaffirmed their joint commitment to strengthening Pakistan-Tajikistan relations by implementing agreements and identifying avenues for collaboration. This represents the shared desire of both countries to deepen their strategic partnership in pursuit of the common goal of prosperity.
