Officials have scheduled an essential meeting about Sindh law and order in Sukkur today.
The President of Pakistan, Asif Ali Zardari, will preside over this gathering. In this session. The team will present a performance report about the ongoing operation in riverine (Katcha) areas. And they expect to make key decisions about law and order.
According to the police, they have set up 107 checkpoints on the left bank of the US River since February 2023. These check posts played a vital role in preventing the honey trap-based abduction of 609 persons. During January-April 2024, kidnappers abducted 103 persons. Authorities officially reported 76 cases, but they could not register FIRs for 47 cases. Police have successfully recovered more than a hundred abductees so far.
Police conducted grand operations against dacoits from January – April, resulting in the death of 63, injuring 120. And the arrest of 418 persons, besides the recovery of over 450 weapons. These endeavours are part of a broader strategy for security enhancement. And ensuring regional law & order maintenance.
Like last month, President Zardari also led a meeting concerning law enforcement in Karachi. The government holds regular meetings like this because it is committed to tackling the security issues in Sindh province.
Because criminals have committed many crimes in the Katcha area. Such as kidnapping and banditry, due to its history, authorities have given this operation high priority.
To control these problems, it was necessary to set up police checkpoints and take further actions accordingly, as implemented by law-enforcing agencies. This prompted discussion on reviewing them more deeply during the Sukkur meeting and other measures for enhancing safety through different strategies.
President Zardari’s opinions show that the federal government wants peace maintained at all costs within national boundaries. Therefore, one can expect that any decisions made after these types of gatherings will remain forever engraved into memories about what happened here today, thus transforming every place around into even much safer locations for living throughout the Sindh region.
Today’s talks revolve around tomorrow’s crime prevention strategies while ensuring stability within a long-term perspective. Thus, we will address both immediate challenges according to their magnitude in relation to future peacekeeping aspirations in this area, which today’s meeting in Sukkur encompasses.
