No recommendations will be accepted; personal preferences will, too. The PM, Shehbaz Sharif, says we’ll start with national interest and rectify any error.
PM Shehbaz Sharif has announced that he will step down without pressure. According to a critical statement by Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif, it came to light. The Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif reportedly told FBR officials during a meeting on Saturday that he would resign but not be pushed into doing so, media reports said.
While talking to the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) officers, Premier Imran Khan said they should carry on with FBR reforms without interruption. No recommendation would be accepted, and personal preference is out of the question. “First comes national interest, and if there is a mistake, we will correct it,” he added. He repeated his position, saying, “I will resign but not under pressure.”
PM Shehbaz Sharif pointed out that the FBR chairman surprised everyone with digitization a few days ago. “If you had informed us three months ago, we could have considered whether to involve the foreign firm McKinsey,” he stated. The Prime Minister instructed the FBR chairman to disclose all surprises, ensuring they would take no immediate action but warning against future concealment.
The Prime Minister called the IMF agreement the beginning of new responsibilities. He urged the government to tax those who haven’t paid yet while assuring businessmen and industrialists that the government would not harass them under tax-collecting excuses. He stressed, “Do not slander my name. “I don’t want you to defame me,” he stated.
Meanwhile, Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam(F) leader Hafiz Hamdullah reacted to the premier’s resignation statement. Hafiz Hamdullah asked Shehbaz Sharif who was pressurizing him and why. “Why does the head of a pressured government find pressure unbearable?” he asked, adding that. The premier started discussing pressure as soon as the honeymoon period ended.
Hamdullah has speculated if it might be a directive from the boss. “Is resignation perhaps a directive from the ‘boss’?” he questioned further, stating that resigning would be beneficial for himself before PMLN. “If you resign, it would be a favor to yourself before it benefits PML-N,” said Hafiz Hamdullah.
The Pakistani political scene remains volatile, with the Prime Minister’s refusal to give in to pressures indicative of. How tough things are for his administration. There may be challenges, but this does not mean personal or external factors should precede national interests. This shows commitment towards governance and reforms despite criticisms and doubters from within political circles. The FBR is going through reforms right now, so we need to balance what our citizens want and what international stakeholders expect. While keeping peace at home during these times, stability is critical, especially when dealing with IMF agreements.
PM Shehbaz Sharif’s statement indicates a commitment to accountability and national interest. Nevertheless, indications from people on the other side, such as Hafiz Hamdullah, suggest that. There will be struggles and discussions along the way as different political players vie for control over the future course of this nation.
