Pervaiz Elahi Released After Lahore High Court Bail

Lahore High Court released Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi on bail. The court granted bail to this individual in the matter of illegal appointments.

Arrival at Zahoor Elahi Palace

After his release, Pervaiz Elahi traveled from Kot Lakhpat Jail to Zahoor Elahi Palace.

Expression of Gratitude

After being let out, Mr. Elahi whole heartedly thanked his creator for giving him justice and the power to be unshakable. He also appreciated judges who did not give up on righteousness and everybody who had prayed on his behalf.

Remarks on Gujrat and Political Allegations

Elahi highlighted the injustices the people of Gujrat faced, mentioning that their mandate was stolen. He stated that he would not engage with Shujaat Hussain’s children until their mandate was restored, accusing Mohsin Naqvi of being instrumental in his arrest and mistreatment.

Commitment to PTI

Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi said he is a devoted PTI member and has always been one.

Series of Legal Challenges

Elahi was released after being granted bail in four anti-corruption cases. Before this, he had also secured bail in cases involving money laundering, throwing petrol bombs at police, and arson.

Arrest During Crackdown

Elahi is among several PTI leaders and workers arrested during the state crackdown following the riots on May 9. He was first arrested on June 1 by the Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) outside his residence in Lahore for allegedly accepting bribes in development projects.

Subsequent Legal Proceedings

Ace re-arrested him the day after a Lahore court let him off for the case, but this time in Gujranwala for another case of a similar nature. On 3 June, a court in Gujranwala absolved him of charges in two corruption references about financial misappropriation.

Repeated Arrests and Legal Battles

Despite discharging him from these cases, ACE arrested him once more on charges of ‘illegal appointments’ within the Punjab Assembly. On March 27, 2024, the court initially rejected his bail application in this case, leading him to file a new application.

Final Bail Approval

The court reserved its decision after hearing arguments from the lawyers on March 26. The Anti-Corruption Department had filed a case against Elahi and Muhammad Khan Bhatti for illegal appointments. The Lahore High Court scheduled Elahi’s hearing for May and reserved its decision on his bail application.
