PDMA Issues Rain Alert Across Punjab | Stay Informed

 

The Punjab Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has issued precautionary measures given the expected Rain Alert in many districts, including Lahore. This alert is part of the PDMA’s constant attempts to provide the situation for natural disasters and awareness regarding the weather for the residents.

Rain Alert Data Across the Province 

As per the spokesperson for PDMA, a downpour has already been experienced in several counties:

Faisalabad = 64 mm

Chakwal = 22 mm

Sargodha = 25 mm

Sheikhupura = 42 mm

Gujranwala and Mandi Bahauddin =22 mm respectively, etc.

Sahiwal- 9 mm

Furthermore, other parts, namely Muree, Narowal, Sialkot, Jhang, Kasur, Jauharabad, and Okara, have also recorded traces of drizzle. All these factors lead to the conclusion that the province is adjusting the weather characteristics of the landscape.

Forecast and Implications Rain Alert

The Media Spokesperson of PDMA opines that most, if not all, the districts of Punjab will be experiencing rainfall within the next twenty-four hours. Officials say the rains will likely extend until the first day of October. With this pronouncement concerning the prospects, the respective agencies are on the alert to prevent floods and any calamity-related calamity. 

The Development and Planning Department’s chief, Irfan Ali Kathia, has instructed all the regional deputy commissions to be highly alert.

Actions Being Taken by Authorities Rain

Cognizant of the alert, the PDMA explained some actions to take to safeguard the public from the alert:

Continuous Monitoring 

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s PDMA control room operates 24/7, with constant monitoring across the province. It swiftly resolves all operational and security threats, while the crisis system addresses every situation requiring information.

Coordination with Local Departments Rain Alert

Irfan Ali Kathia has underscored the importance of other concerned departments remaining in standby mode, especially regarding the Chief Minister of Punjab’s directives.

Public Safety Measures Rain Alert

After considering the above, when it rains heavily, the public is now advised by the PDMA to be on safety measures. Some electric poles and lines hang out that people should avoid, especially during storms.

Low spots containing stagnant water/ puddles: People, particularly kids looking to prevent injuries, should avoid them.

Families are advised to implement the below measures 

Stay Informed: Pay attention to the weather conditions and relevant notifications from the PDMA.

Prepare Emergency Kits: Gather necessities like food, bottled water, and first aid materials that may be useful in case of flooding.

Plan for Evacuations: Be ready to leave the areas as quickly as possible, especially for residents of flooding places.

The rains are trickling in, but authorities are still on standby, watching over all developments and propagating remedies at agreeable intervals.
