In his address before parliamentarians, PM Shehbaz Sharif appreciated them for passing such a consensus-based decision. He stated that the martyrdom of Ismail Haniyeh has plunged the world into mourning which is a very serious setback towards peace efforts within the region while reiterating our country’s solidarity with the late leader’s family along with people living under occupation.
Human Rights Concerns Ismail Haniyeh’s killing
He pointed out that the ongoing oppression in Palestine is a grave human rights issue. Over 40,000 Palestinians have perished due to the lack of enforcement of international laws that allow injustice to flourish. Children’s joyful play has given way to cries of agony, and thriving neighborhoods have turned into slums.
Commitment to Palestinian Aid
The Prime Minister assured that Pakistan will continue its aid to Palestine. He announced plans to bring injured Palestinians and medical students to Pakistan for treatment and emphasized that the country is observing a day of mourning.
Criticism and Calls for Unity Ismail Haniyeh’s killing
Chairman of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, Barrister Gohar, criticized the resolution as insufficient, arguing that the Muslim world is weaker compared to Israel. He stressed the need to strengthen the OIC and criticized the government’s failure to convene an OIC conference. He highlighted the significant human rights violations under the current government and called for unity against Israel.
Response to Supreme Court Decision
Barrister Gohar also discussed the Supreme Court’s decision on enforced disappearances, urging the Speaker to ensure the production of party worker Haji Imtiaz. The Prime Minister assured that he would review the request, emphasizing the importance of addressing such issues.

Former Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf called for a united stand against Israeli atrocities. He highlighted the global ethical violations by Israel and questioned the absence of actions from the United Nations and the International Court. He urged for internal unity and dialogue, emphasizing the need to fix domestic issues to strengthen the country’s stance on the international stage.
