OceanGate Whistleblower Testifies on Titan Safety

David Lochridge, an operations director at OceanGate, spoke at a public hearing about the tragedy of the Titan submersible. According to Lochridge, bypassing the company’s standard procedures was a practice that was bound to lead to safety concerns. However, this was a forewarning, and he was sacked in 2018 for being too vocal regarding potential threats. Oceangate whistleblower testifies on titan safety.

Warnings That Did More Harm Than Good Testifies

Lochridge said that he did not support the design of Titan. More so the use of carbon fiber as the material. Arguing that it was bound to fail with every dive. He fears for his safety every day. And maintains that OceanGate was not interested in safety. But rather in making money. And for that, he was labeled a ‘troublemaker.’

Concerns and Action at Law Testifies

Lochner was terminated for disclosing prohibitive content and, via a legal action provision, sought the reverse of this on the grounds of wrongful termination. He has been defensive about his concerns, this being the first occasion he has testimony concerning allegations that led to worry. Public hearings by the US Coast Guard about the disaster of 2023 have been going on for 15 months as part of a two2-week inquiry into the disaster.

Refusal To Work With Specialists

Lochridge attributed self-importance as the feature of OceanGate, and it is now about the whole of OceanGate rather than this one member about engineering this feature. Sloan University went through that engineering course entirely rather than seeking engineers’ expertise on staff. In some ways, collaborative approaches to development engineering internal staffing showed tenancy towards development, the feature in focus that proportionately received more attention concerning their efficacy.

CEO and Other Key Testimonies

The committee heard the evidence of OceanGate’s former engineering director, Tony Nissen, who had refused to get aboard the Titan submersible several years earlier, citing safety issues. He said he was compelled to get the sub ready for the water even though he didn’t want to.

Series of Equipment Failures

The findings indicated that during Tiger’s operational history. Many failures were recorded. Including 118 equipment issues that occurred between 2021 and 2022 during its dives. The sub also never passed any third-party evaluation. And while it was in storage. It was avoidably exposed to climatic conditions.

Tragic Outcome

In June 2023, the Titan submersible suffered an implosion while descending to the Titanic wreckage. Five occupants were onboard: OceanGate Chief Executive Stockton Rush, an explorer named Hamish Hardinge, businessman Shahzada Dawood and his son. After the event, OceanGate ceased all its operational and commercial activities.
