President of Pakistan Muslim League (Nawaz), Nawaz Sharif, has called upon the nation to compare who has served the country and who has caused its ruin. He emphasized that they, in collaboration with other parties, not only form the government but also effectively run it to sustain and strengthen democracy.
“That is the beauty of democracy,” Sharif stated, adding that he approached the founder of PTI to establish democracy. However, for the past 25 years, the founder has repeatedly claimed, “I will do this, I will do that. I won’t spare you; I will put you in jail. I will take the air conditioner out of Nawaz Sharif’s room.” Addressing this, Sharif said, “Now you are in jail; I didn’t even think about your air conditioner. You can install two instead of one; I have no objection. I am not the kind of person who harbors such malice, animosity, or a desire for revenge.”
Speaking at a meeting of PML-N senators in Murree, Sharif further criticized the behavior of political leaders. “Do prime ministers make such threats, saying things like ‘IG, I will put you in jail’? I am once again following the agenda I started in 1990,” he said. Nawaz Sharif advised Maryam Nawaz to spend her resources on the welfare of the deprived and urged Shehbaz Sharif to prioritize the rights of the deprived, creating a system that provides them with affordable electricity. He expressed gratitude for the decrease in certain costs and called for policies to generate electricity and gas. “My nation is very dear to me; I have served it day and night. Today, if any government’s name is written on every project in Pakistan, it is that of PML-N,” he claimed.
Sharif Criticizes BRT Scandal and Coup
Sharif criticized those who dismissed the Peshawar Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) system, accusing them of embezzling billions. He questioned why a democratic government was overthrown, reflecting on his readings while in jail about Pervez Musharraf’s actions. “Pervez Musharraf removed the government. He has now passed away, so there is no point in lamenting. We must call a spade a spade,” he insisted.
Sharif did not hold back in criticizing the current government’s economic policies. “We parted ways with the IMF, but they brought it back. How can the deprived not suffer under the IMF’s conditions? I do not depend on the IMF for support,” he stated. He urged the nation to consider who has truly served the country and who has exploited it, highlighting the intense hardships endured by the deprived. Sharif also recalled his initiatives to provide electricity to every household and asserted that even the IMF had acknowledged that Pakistan might no longer need its assistance.
Praising Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, Sharif described him as an excellent person who bravely endured jail and supported him. He stated that if he hadn’t been ousted from power, the country would have been progressing. “Shehbaz Sharif is working diligently, and I will commend him for that. Maryam Nawaz is reaching out everywhere and deserves praise for efforts to reduce the price of bread,” he concluded.
