In different districts of Balochistan, monsoon rains are still slamming, causing many casualties and destructions. Within the last day, 12 persons have died as a result of heavy rain-related accidents.
Rainfall Data and Affected Areas
During the last 24 hours, as said by PDMA (Provincial Disaster Management Authority). Rainfall has been recorded in the Khuzdar area (49 mm), Kalat area (45 mm), Sibi area (41 mm), Lasbela area (14 mm), Barkhan area (5 mm) and Quetta area (3mm). Furthermore, minor to torrential rain has occurred in Ziarat, Kohlu, Mastung, Hub, Jhal Magsi, Sohbatpur, etc., Kachhi, Harnai, Loralai, Sherani, Duki, Musakhel, Barkhan, Zhob, Toba Achakzai, Gulistan, Jungle Pir Ali Zai, Qilla Abdullah et al. l.
Flood Situation in Rivers
PDMA reported high flood levels in the Nari and Tali rivers in Balochistan. In Khuzdar’s Tehsil Nal, one person died from floodwater drowning. Though the people inside were saved uninjured. A car was washed away into the Zhob River by the flood at Badini.
Infrastructure Damage and Disruptions
Heavy rains disrupted normalcy in Chaman and Sibi, with low-lying areas submerged under water. Traffic at Pinjra Bridge was halted because of the flooding surge in Bolan district. In addition, Harnai roads have become impassable owing to rainwater, while traffic on Quetta-Harnai road and Kohlu-Sibi road has been disrupted due to it.
Rains caused severe damage to roads leading to the upper areas of Ziarat, whereas shower-created mud underfoot halted traffic on Lakh Pass Road near Awaran’s Jhao Tehsil.

Thunderstorms and more rains are expected today in Khuzdar, Lasbela, Awaran, Barkhan, Musakhel, Zhob, Mastung, Sibi, Sherani, Kohlu, Bolan, Harnai, Loralai, Naseerabad, Jhal Magsi, Jaffarabad, Dera Bugti, Quetta, Ziarat, Qilla Abdullah, Qilla Saifullah, Kalat, Pasni, Ormara and Panjgur according to the Meteorological Department.
Balochistan is currently experiencing heavy flooding due to monsoon rains that have led to many deaths. And major disruptions in people’s lives. The situation remains critical due to the forecast of more rain. Thus calling for prevention measures against further damage and the protection of citizens.
