When we commemorate Pakistan’s independence on this day, we must remember those who gave their lives for our freedom. This nation’s struggle for peace and stability continues unabated, particularly in South Waziristan. Where daily sacrifices of this kind are made. Mohsin Naqvi said that no words can express the debt of gratitude owed by every Pakistani towards its heroes whom they will never forget. However much they cannot be repaid or reciprocated, one thing is sure: they loved their land more than anything else. We honor these brave men: Havaldar Nisar Hussain, Naik Rasheed Gul, Naik Irfanullah Khan, and Sipahi Usman. Who was promoted posthumously after being killed fighting terrorist groups on duty? They gave their lives protecting us from the highest form of patriotism that deserves recognition not only today. But always because it reminds us about what cost entails when defending oneself against an enemy bent upon destruction without caring whether he destroys himself too.
The fallen heroes deserve to be recognized as national icons. Given that their actions while engaging extremists protected our territorial integrity besides sending a strong signal across. The board that nobody should ever think about destabilizing Pakistan again. In addition, it can frustrate terrorists’ plans. They played vital roles in ensuring tranquility among fellow citizens. Thus saving many innocent lives at risk had these criminals succeeded in their evil intentions. Pakistanis should know that nothing can take away pride from them other than remembering forever how selflessly this nation has been served by sons, daughters, husbands, wives, fathers, mothers, relatives, friends, neighbors, acquaintances, workmates, schoolmates, comrades, birth mates, inspired heroes, legends that time cannot erase regardless of circumstances surrounding such acts during those times when expect least understand most appreciate least comprehend much less anticipate everything nothing. Minister Naqvi’s words should remind us that our soldiers are not just fighting for their own lives. Still, future generations will look up to them as role models for protecting what is rightfully ours against any form of aggression. Be it internal or external because they have always known no other home than this – Pakistan till death does us part.
