Two of those citizens have been missing Karachi residents for a relatively long time; sometimes, they return home to relieve their relatives. This came to light during the hearing regarding more than ten cases related to missing persons in the Sindh High Court.
Missing Persons Recovered
In the police report, they found Hussain Ali Naqvi, who had gone missing from New Karachi, and Muhammad Faisal, who had disappeared from the Sir Syed area. They were both safely recovered and presented in court. The Sindh High Court acknowledged their safe return and ordered the closure of the petitions concerning their disappearances.
The resolution of these cases has relieved the families who spent long periods wondering about their whereabouts. The court’s decision to close these cases reflects the progress made in resolving them.
Staying Active on Cases and Following Court Orders
At the same hearing, the court discussed other ongoing missing persons cases. The Sindh High Court ordered the forces to get a DNA sample from the relatives of Yaseen, a resident of Clifton who was reported missing. This move is very important in the current efforts to locate Yaseen.
The investigating officer informed the court that numerous institutions had obtained details, including the Anti-Violent Crime Cell (AVLC) and the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD). However, none of them has been able to state that they are holding Yaseen. The absence of this knowledge continues to be a headache in the investigation and makes it complex.
In addition, the government’s lawyer also informed the Court that the family of Saqib, another citizen who went missing from Sachal, received compensation for his disappearance. This compensation, however, is inadequate in that it does not address the resolution of the issue, that is, the return of the missing persons.
Subsequent Hearings And Government Response
The Sindh High Court has asked the provincial and federal governments to respond to recovering more missing persons than the three understood. The court emphasized a compelling need for amnesty and the collective will to bring back everyone reportedly unaccounted for under unclear circumstances.
The court has adjourned the hearing of the remaining cases for four weeks, but during this period, it hopes not to receive any updates on the progress of the investigations.
The return of two missing citizens from Karachi is one step in the efforts to move in the direction of the Missing Karachi Residents. This news reassures the relatives of other missing persons to some extent; however, the orders emphasize that one cannot rest easily and that more work remains. The Honorable Sindh High Court still insists on finding all the missing persons and handing them over to their families.
