Attaullah Tarar, the Federal Minister for Information, has voiced his worries about the opposition’s view on the Taliban by saying they do not back military operations against them. He made this statement while addressing the National Assembly, where he talked about several pressing problems and what we’re doing to solve them.
In his speech, Attaullah Tarar recalled his days in the opposition when they used to bring forward a shadow budget. He lamented that the current opposition engages in criticism for the sake of criticism without offering constructive alternatives. He emphasized that the budget session has long-standing traditions that should be respected and upheld, a practice he feels the opposition needs to address.
Tarar pointed out the significant effort and diligence required to prepare a shadow budget, which he believes the opposition is unwilling to undertake. On the contrary, he blamed them for using disruptive strategies like yelling slogans. He remembered Masti Khel’s five-year assembly tenure as an MPA and his loyalty to Nawaz Sharif by calling him a master. Tarar criticized the behavior in the assembly, stating that. The chaos witnessed the previous day was inappropriate and should not have occurred.
The federal minister also addressed the government’s economic achievements, mentioning that the stock exchange has set new records. However, he criticized the opposition for failing to acknowledge these successes and instead focusing on negative aspects. He highlighted the tragic incidents in Medina and the killing of a Sri Lankan manager, which he described as acts done in the name of religion without any justification. Tarar questioned the opposition’s role in these matters and accused them of bringing the Taliban back into prominence.
Further elaborating on the issue, he questioned who initiated the debate on differentiating between ‘good’ and ‘bad’ Taliban, a discussion he finds futile. He stressed that when a Taliban bullet harms someone, it does not differentiate between factions. Tarar informed the assembly that the government had approved Operation Azm-e-Istahkam, a significant move to ensure stability. He mentioned that this operation would also be discussed in the cabinet.
Attaullah Tarar emphasized the importance of Operation Azm-e-Istahkam in securing the nation, mainly in attracting foreign investment. He noted that China is keen on investing in Pakistan, necessitating a stable and secure environment. He mentioned a resolution presented in the assembly, expressing disappointment. The opposition did not stand with the government in supporting it. To improve the nation’s economy, we should secure an environment for those who invest their money.
The federal minister accused the opposition of aiding the Taliban through their actions and words. He called on them to cease their disruptive behavior and instead present viable suggestions that the government could implement. He assured that he would consider the opposition if they had any constructive budget proposals. However, he doubted their capability to provide such input, accusing them of fostering instability in Pakistan.
Attaullah Tarar’s address in the National Assembly critiqued and defended the opposition’s approach. The government’s economic and security measures called for constructive engagement to ensure Pakistan’s stability and prosperity.
