Minister Nazir Tarar Condemns Lawyers’ Killings in Attock

Federal Minister for Law and Justice Nazir Tarar strongly condemned the heinous incident of lawyers’ killings in Attock, emphasizing the imperative of ensuring justice in this tragic case.

Federal Minister Nazir Tarar, while addressing the Punjab Bar Council, said that Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has taken immediate steps to get a fact-finding report about the killing of two lawyers. He said that the chief minister took notice of the incident and contacted IG Punjab due to which the suspect was arrested within hours. He said that the government is determined to conduct a transparent investigation into the Attock incident as it believes in the supremacy of the law.

The minister stated that the state is responsible for bringing criminals to justice wherever a crime occurs. He guaranteed equity in this situation and said that a special court would handle the trials of the accused prime minister.

Tarar stated that they have taken various steps for the welfare and development of lawyers across the province. He announced that they had allocated a record one billion rupees for lawyers’ welfare. Which shows the government’s commitment to the legal fraternity. He also appreciated Ahsan Bhoon’s efforts, which led to the announcement of a comprehensive package for lawyers. Maryam Nawaz guided special arrangements for female lawyers. These initiatives will benefit lawyers in all districts and Punjab tehsils to create a a conducive atmosphere for legal practice.

He acknowledged the challenges faced by the government during recent operations. But reiterated its resolve to maintain constitutional supremacy and the rule of law. He stressed the need to apply these principles so every citizen could get justice consistently. At the same time, referring to previous incidents when arrests or harassment occurred during lawyer protests. He called for restraint and maintenance of order during such demonstrations.

The minister assured the government would cooperate if anyone pointed out any injustice. The Bar Association to take legal action against responsible persons. He said the legal profession had been key in Pakistan’s political history. It has always defended constitutional values and the rule of law.

Tarar reiterated the government’s commitment to democratic norms and protecting citizens’ rights. He promised to protect the democratic process at all costs and expressed hope. Through collective efforts and adherence to legal principles. Pakistan would further strengthen its democratic institutions, ensuring justice and equality for all citizens.
