May 9 Cases Imran Khan Refuses Polygraph Voice Test

Rawalpindi: The first round of questioning with Pakistan Tahreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan has been completed by Lahore Police in connection with the May 9 incidents, sources said. This step is the most major in investigating the violent happenings that day.

During the phase, Official sources told DawnNews that the DSP Javed Asif-led team asked different questions of Imran Khan, who did not respond to any of them, showing a lack of trust in the police force. Many people took this badly because they thought he should have cooperated fully, knowing how much it would have meant toward establishing the truth concerning those events.

Javed Asif told him that if he had faith in fair play, the police would ensure justice, but according to them, his response remained suspicious. After some bargaining, he agreed to undergo interrogation for a quarter of an hour, which indicates only a slight change on his part, though reservations about the process remain intact.

In addition, Khan refused to participate in three tests suggested by PFSA during the investigation. Polygraph examination, voice matching, and photogrammetry. Which are commonly used for criminal inquiries or verification of facts, among other things. The PTI leader justified this refusal, saying that several agencies are currently scrutinizing him. Therefore, no test can be conducted under these circumstances. However, he might consider this later—such decisions raise doubt over full cooperation. The probe worsened relations with officials.

The PFSA team could not conduct these tests due to Imran Khan’s uncooperative attitude towards them. This might affect the progress and outcome of the inquiry because, without their help, it is impossible to determine whether the accused person’s statement is true or false. The accuracy of collected evidence—a role played here—shows much significance attached so far.

After the first round of questioning at Adiala Jail, he is an under-trial prisoner. The Lahore Police party left for their station house, led by Deputy Superintendent of Police Javed Asif. The DSP had told Imran they were only conducting this phase. However, his non-cooperation became a significant stumbling block during these investigations.

Imran Khan’s response to PFSA and other investigative bodies’ requests for cooperation will determine the future course of action. He has become an important political figure, and many legal cases have been against him. Whether it ends successfully or not may have far-reaching effects on politics.

As more facts are unearthed each day, people will keenly watch every step taken. The ongoing probe, knowing too well that unless there is a relationship between them. The PTI chief and law-enforcing agencies improve, and progress might not be made toward solving such a high-profile case.
