Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has said that she is committed to the people of Punjab and will not let them down. She said she would not rest for a single day, hour, or minute until their lives improved.
Ensuring merit-based appointments
Maryam Nawaz stressed that all appointments in Punjab have been made on merit. She asked the opposition to stop creating hurdles and let Pakistan prosper. She said confidently that the opposition could not achieve what her government did in 300 years. Quoting Nawaz Sharif, she shared an anecdote about him jokingly advising the installation of two air conditioners in the PTI founder’s prison cell if he already had one.
100 days’ performance review
Addressing the Punjab Assembly’s budget session, Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz presented the achievements made by her government during the previous hundred days. She expressed hope that even the opposition would appreciate the budget as no new taxes were imposed on the people of Punjab this time. She observed very little criticism from the opposition, which usually makes noise out of compulsion rather than genuine concern.
Accountability drive against the PTI regime
Maryam Nawaz blamed the PTI government for being incompetent and seeking revenge instead of serving public welfare through misuse of power. She added that, unlike in the previous setup, our administration never withdrew any facilities given to opponents. She also remarked on petty actions like removing air conditioners from jail cells taken by the PTI rulership.
Growth and Education Sectors
Maryam Nawaz announced a laptop scheme worth 10 billion rupees across Punjab to motivate students to excel academically. She promised free tuition for students who get admission into reputed universities, thanked the acting CJ LHC for settling the YDA strike, and warned against hampering the treatment of poor patients.
Digital Infrastructure Extension And Safety Enhancement
The chief minister disclosed plans to provide high-speed Wi-Fi at 200 places in Lahore city. Intending to extend the free Wi-Fi project state-wide. She also committed herself to ensuring that the safe city system becomes operational in 18 districts within three months and all over Punjab within a year, which consists of 36 districts.
Health and education sectors
Maryam Nawaz reiterated her commitment to transforming the health sector and improving education. She said that by the end of her tenure, no road or street would remain broken in Punjab. Comprehensive drainage and cleanliness would have been achieved. She added that we would not be deterred by frequent strikes or resistance against reforms. But rather work hard to improve public services.
