Maryam Nawaz Orders Thorough Drain Cleaning, Daily Reports

 

Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has ordered a comprehensive cleaning of rivers and streams across Punjab and directed thoroughly cleaning drains in anticipation of possible rains.

Given the potential flood risk, the Chief Minister has requested daily reports from districts. During a special meeting, Maryam Nawaz visited the Punjab Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) headquarters, where she was briefed on the status of all barrages, link canals, main canals, drainage systems, and dams. The Secretary of Irrigation, Chief Meteorologist, and Director General of PDMA provided detailed briefings. Maryam Nawaz also toured the PDMA’s central control room and observed the weather portal, flood forecasting division, and flood simulation model.

During the meeting, the Chief Minister instructed district administrations to inform residents of affected areas about evacuation plans in case of a flood. She also directed officials to notify residents of affected villages about designated shelter and food locations. She emphasized the removal of encroachments and obstructions from river and stream paths and the timely evacuation of people and livestock. madam also questioned why early flood warning systems, which are familiar worldwide, are not effectively operational in Pakistan. Additionally, she ordered immediate water drainage in every city in the event of rain.

Maryam Nawaz Reviews Walton Road, Orders Pre-Monsoon Fixes

Maryam Nawaz personally visited Walton Road to assess public issues and inspected the remodelling and upgrading project of the ADA drain on Walton Road. She also reviewed the construction of the road and drain. At the Defense Mor, she inspected the traffic situation. The Chief Minister ordered the opening of the three-lane carriageway on Walton Road for general traffic by September and the six-lane road on both sides by October. Later, she chaired a special meeting at the site office to review the Walton Road Upgradation Project in detail. Maryam Nawaz instructed that the issues faced by the public on Walton Road be resolved before the monsoon season.

On another visit, the Chief Minister went to Haji Park in Rajgarh to review. The pilot project of the Lahore Development Model in Union Council 53. Under this project, concrete, cobblestones, tough tiles, and coloured floors were constructed. She inspected the model streets and evaluated their quality. The model street in UC 53 had street lights, house numbering, and nameplates. The underground sewerage system was revamped, and unique plastic maintenance hole covers were installed to prevent theft. The Chief Minister instructed that water should not stand in the newly built model street after rain. Agreed on the proposal to use different coloured tiles for other towns.

On World Drug Day, the Chief Minister of Punjab. In her message, she stated that regulation enforcement businesses had been instructed to take indiscriminate action against drug smuggling networks. She reaffirmed her commitment to a drug-unfastened Punjab for the better future of young people. Mentioning that drug use destroys lives and households, and we have to unite to fight this threat.
