Maryam Nawaz, the Chief Minister of Punjab, has directed the swift completion of the legal process to establish an Authority Enforcement Regulatory.
They reviewed proposed changes in laws and rules for establishing the Authority. During the briefing, they disclosed that they would constitute a District Enforcement Regulatory Board in each district.
The Punjab Enforcement Regulatory Authority will effectively work against inflation, while the Sub-Divisional Enforcement Officer will ensure the law’s implementation at the technical level. Additionally, 40 officials, including enforcement officers in each tehsil, shall monitor and regulate prices of essential commodities.
The briefing also informed that movable encroachments would be removed to widen streets and markets. Head the District Enforcement Regulatory Board, while at the technical level, the enforcement officer shall be responsible for enforcing and monitoring actions. Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz said hoarders cannot play with public interests.
Moreover, in the World Sports Journalists Day message, she highlighted their role in healthy activities through sports.
Maryam Nawaz’s directive comes following increased inflation rates coupled with the need for a specific body to regulate prices. And ensure the availability of basic needs. The move aims to establish a structured approach to monitor prices and prevent hoarding, potentially inconveniencing people accessing markets or streets after removing encroachments. The government aims to beef up its capacity to deal with inflation by appointing enforcement officers and setting regulatory boards at district and tehsil levels, with consumer protection at heart.
This initiative by the Chief Minister indicates that robust legal frameworks coupled with regulatory authorities should exist. If any country wants to tackle economic challenges head-on, where welfare becomes second. The government expects enforcement officers to participate. And plans to establish regulatory boards to control prices and prevent market manipulation, among other goals.
