Mark Robinson, NC GOP Governor Candidate, Treated for Burns

On Friday, North Carolina Lt. Gov. Mark Robinson was admitted to the hospital due to second-degree burns he had suffered during a campaign event. The incident occurred at the Mayberry Truck Show held in Mt. Airy, along the North Carolina-Virginia border. Mike Lonergan, a spokesperson for his campaign, confirmed the news on Friday night. Despite the injury, Robinson was reportedly in “good spirits” after treatment at the Northern Regional Hospital in Mt. Airy.

No Details on the Injury Incident

Details surrounding the incident have been limited. Owing to the absence of further explanation of how Robinson sustained. The occupation and the use of more in-depth explanation techniques. However, Robinson was entitled, and Lonergan spoke out, cautioning that public concerns were running too amok and that the gentleman would be back to work on tons of campaign hopeful canvassing as early as Saturday morning.

Controversy Surrounding Robinson’s Gubernatorial Bid

Please help me give some context about Robinson and his injury score. This injury occurred while his gubernatorial campaign had already hit some significant hurdles. Back up the contents, CNN’s report stated that between 2008 and 2012, Robinson used the name “black NAZI” on a pornographic site’s message board, where he made disgusting comments. The report, published on September 19, has had terrible consequences on his campaign.

Resignations of Campaign Staff

As expected, following the report, key campaign officials resigned after the CNN publication. Including the campaign manager, senior advisor, finance director, and deputy campaign manager. Worries were further fuelled over Robinson’s competence in garnering Republican leadership’s backing.

Reactions from Republican Leadership

Prominent Republicans, including Robinson himself, are now feeling the pinching due to Robinson becoming less favored by the external ‘forces.’ The former president had previously thrown his weight behind Robinson. Did not appear with the latter during two street corner activities in North Carolina after the CNN report. When Robinson was proffered whether additional endorsement towards Robinson would still be expected from the former president, he just said “I don’t know the situation”.

Further, when Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell was asked if the Republican Party should keep back support of Robinson, he even pivoted and said, “I am glad there is no Senate race in North Carolina, so I don’t have to worry about everybody.”

Campaigning with Robinson’s Setbacks Continues

Contrary to that news and the physical injury, Robinson remains attuned to the campaign. On Wednesday, he spoke about them, promising, “This is an election about policies, not personalities”. He has also called them to focus on the picture and refrain from keeping opposers within the party because it benefits no one.
