Lahore Reform Program: PKR 71.66B Infrastructure Boost

 

The upcoming fiscal year’s budget proposes PKR 71.66 billion for 867 schemes under the Lahore Reform Program to transform the city’s infrastructure.

Key Components of the Lahore Reform Program

The change program incorporates a wide range of ventures, for example, fixing sewers, clearing streets and roads, introducing streetlamps, and reestablishing burial grounds and stops. The Lahore Metropolitan Corporation, in particular, has received 58.9 billion rupees for 449 schemes. Additionally, they will spend PKR 12.76 billion on 418 sewage projects.

Development Funds Distribution by Zones

In the first phase, development funds will be approved for six zones of Lahore:

Ravi Zone: 65 schemes with an allocation of PKR 8.35 billion.
Data Ganj Bakhsh Zone: 24 schemes with an allocation of PKR 3.67 billion.
Samanabad Zone: 9 schemes with an allocation of PKR 1.25 billion.
Nishtar Zone: 89 schemes with an allocation of PKR 12 billion.
Gulberg Zone: 10 schemes with an allocation of PKR 850 million.
Shalamar Zone: 22 schemes with an allocation of PKR 2.83 billion.
Iqbal Town: 158 schemes with an allocation of PKR 18.52 billion.
Aziz Bhatti Zone: 25 schemes with an allocation of PKR 3.91 billion.
Wagah Zone: 47 schemes with an allocation of PKR 7.56 billion.

Investment in Outskirts

A substantial allocation of PKR 68.63 billion has been proposed for sewage, drainage, and paved streets outside the main city limits. This investment aims to ensure that the reform program’s benefits extend beyond the central urban areas and improve the overall infrastructure of the city’s outskirts.
