Kirin 9 Chip Boosted Performance with 1+3+4 Design

Huawei seems to be preparing for a change in the Kirin chip line with the release of the Kirin 9 series. This latest processor focuses on enhancing the performance of the CPU but keeps the 1+3+4 configuration used on the Kirin 9010 platform. Nonetheless, it will come with superior cores that will boost performance.

Same Layout, only more Cores Kirin 9

The Kirin 9 series will use the 1+3+4 CPU architecture, which still has one big core, three middle and four small cores. Such an approach provides diverse performance-supporting resources depending on the requirements regarding the tasks executed. With the strong cores in the new Kirin chip, overclocking performance may be sweeter for users looking for high performance.

Research and Development in Combination with New Technology

This system-on-chip (SoC) is an internal task that Huawei completes as the company takes further strides to improve its semiconductor technology. This will be achieved by applying 7nm Pro Plus technology in manufacturing, which is lower than the traditional methods used for low-grade chips. 7nm process chips are designed and have been known to provide improved performance ratios and more efficient power usage than older technologies.

Partnership with SMIC Kirin 9

Huawei works with SMIC, a considerable semiconductor manufacturer in China, to produce the latest Kirin chip. This venture is critical considering Huawei’s ambition to develop its semiconductors. Earlier this year, the company officials clarified that they would like to learn further how to work with this 7nm process technology as it forms a basis for the transition towards 5nm and 3nm chips in the future. Having such a strategic focus is crucial as Huawei seeks to address issues in the immature global semiconductor industry.

Expected Launch with Mate 70 Series

As with all aspects of the Kirin 9 series, details on its features have been sketchy at best, except for the potential that it might be available for Huawei Mate 70 series smartphone launches. The Mate 9 and Mate 10 are top-end Huawei devices that have also been designing to compete with Apple’s flagship iPhones and Samsung’s nine series devices. If this is true, then the Kirin 9 would be a significant component of the threat that Hua Wei’s next-generation mobile devices will pose to the industry as innovation continues to hit the mobile edge.

Huawei’s new Kirin 9 series chip improves the CPU’s performance without abandoning the 1+3+4 arrangement. The new SoC plant aims at reinforcing digital solutions for Huawei against competitors thanks to enhanced manufacturing technologies and engagement with SMIC. While waiting for the Mate 70 series, people are looking forward to the practical work of this new chip.
