Ishaq Dar to Share Draft on U.S. Demand Soon

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar announced they are bringing a resolution in response to the U.S. demand for an investigation into the elections. They will share the draft soon.

During one of the National Assembly sessions, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar responded to the U.S. House of Representatives resolution on investigating alleged irregularities in Pakistan’s general elections by saying that they are currently passing the budget. He added that Pakistan wants a constructive dialogue with America, and the latter should address its concerns through diplomatic channels.

He said no nation could meddle in Pakistan’s domestic affairs. The Foreign Office swiftly responded to the U.S. Congress resolution, which indicated firmness on Pakistan’s sovereignty. We need to show our independence and unity in the face of external pressures. We have taken cognizance of it, and the draft resolution is ready, which we will share with all stakeholders soon,” Dar disclosed.

Ishaq Dar told the House that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has taken note of the U.S. House of Representatives resolution. Still, its timing/approval context does not correspond with positive aspects of the Pak-US bilateral relationship(s),” he said, adding that this stems from an incomplete understanding of Pakistan’s political situation. Pakistan is the second biggest parliamentary democracy and the fifth largest democratic country,” he stated. Pakistan upholds the rule of law at home for its welfare interests…

“We want overseas Pakistanis’ right to vote; nobody can travel Mianwali or Peshawar to cast his ballot paper, so we should move ahead collectively & project foreign policy under PM Shehbaz Sharif’s government,” Ishaq said. He underscored the inclusiveness of the electoral system, saying all stakeholders must join hands to ensure that every Pakistani citizen, irrespective of where they live, participates in democracy.

The Deputy Prime Minister noted that the previous regime stopped the work on the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC). Still, PM Shehbaz Sharif has restarted it.” This project is significant strategically because through CPEC we can achieve two goals, i.e. economic development & regional connectivity,” he said.

Ishaq Dar remarked that some people claimed Pakistan was isolated. “What isolation? Which forum is there where Pakistan’s voice is not heard?” he questioned. We have condemned Israeli aggression in Gaza more than any other country. We will fully represent issues like Kashmir. Gaza, and others on international forums. We present a strong stance on issues like Gaza, Islamophobia, and Kashmir, advocating for justice and human rights.

He added that Doha will host a summit in a few weeks. Afghanistan, and we will be part of this summit. Afghanistan is our top priority. Whether to allow the Petroleum Ministry or form a committee of the House, there are sanctions or threats on Pakistan. We want Afghanistan to be strong, as we have religious and cultural ties with them. Pakistan commits to a constructive role because strengthening Afghanistan is essential for regional stability and security.

Pakistan’s finance minister, Ishaq Dar, has expressed the country’s wish for a positive dialogue with America and other foreign nations. He said diplomacy should be based on trust and respect for one another’s interests. Talking to the parliamentarians during a Monday session, he also confirmed that Islamabad will safeguard its self-respect while dealing with the rest of the world.
