Intel Core Ultra 9 285: 65W, 24 Cores, 24 Threads

A new CPU model of the Intel Core Ultra 9 285 “Arrow Lake” has appeared, assuring the presence of the flagship 65W variant with 24 cores and 24 threads.

Overview of Intel Core Ultra 9 285

The Intel Core Ultra 9 285 CPU, an Arrow Lake-based processor, features a power rating of seventy-five watts, twenty-four cores, twenty-four threads, and high clock speeds. The Core Ultra Series 2 “Arrow Lake” processors will launch with K-series chips before introducing lower-watt 65W and 35W models in Q1 2025. Engineers will use a low-wattage CPU alongside mid-range 800 series chipsets, including the B860 and H810 motherboards.

Specifications and Geekbench 6 Test Intel Core

The recent tests of the Intel Core Ultra 9 285 CPU took place on an ASUS PRIME Z890-P motherboard with an LGA 1851 socket, which accommodates all Arrow Lake desktop series processors. In terms of core configuration, the CPU is similar to the Core Ultra 9 285K since it houses 24 cores with an architecture of 8 P-Core (Lion Cove) and 16 E-Core (Skymont).

The processor also has an LDG479 6 200 hva quad 36m storage and an additional level 3 cache. Its base clock speed is 2.5ghz, while its upper boost clock speed is approximately 5.6ghz. This configuration represents the start of 65W (PL1). The design must have a PL2 power rating of more than 200 watts.

Researchers ran the Geekbench 6 test using handheld devices equipped with only 8 GB of DDR5-5600 RAM, likely retained solely for booting purposes. Tan yhad attained a CPU single-core test score of 3081 and a multi-core test score of 14150. These results are scored below the 1718 K range of Intel Core i9 14900 Non K Ode. These could be justified by milder design limitations of power consumption ratings, such as a 65W solution.

Due to its lower TDP (thermal design power), the Intel Core Ultra 9 285 will likely perform somewhat lower than the Core Ultra 9 285K, but it should still show better improvement than the tested scores. Retailers will release the Intel Core Ultra 9 285K on October 24, 2023. In contrast, they expect to launch the 65-watt variants, including the Core Ultra 9 285 “Arrow Lake” embedded processor, in the first quarter of 2025.
