Heavy Rain Forecasted for Karachi as Low Pressure Hits India

It has been said by the meteorologists that there will be heavy rain in Karachi starting from Monday as a robust weather system advances towards the city. This was noted by the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), which added that low pressure over central India had strengthened due to depression in Madhya Pradesh. The rage of the monsoon season is moving toward that region, and it is expected that this system will reach eastern Sindh by tonight or very early in the morning tomorrow.

Weather System and Its Impact

Such systems are extremely effective, and the PMD has also predicted that heavy monsoon winds will strike Sindh under the influence of this system. Rain with gusty winds and thunderstorms are expected for the whole of Sindh starting tonight and will continue until the 31st of August. It is further reported that from August 26 to August 30, other districts in Sindh are also anticipated to be similarly rain-racked.

The forecast focuses on Karachi, in particular. It predicts intermittent rainfall with thunderstorm activity between August 27 and August 31, 2016. Heavy rains will also be experienced during this period in the Kirthar Range and the mountainous regions of Balochistan.

Potential Risks and Precautions

The PMD has warned that this heavy rainfall will cause flooding in the lowlands in Sindh; thus, more access to flooding is anticipated. The PMD has also warned that the sea will likely be rough, and fishermen have been advised to be careful during this period.

Our meteorologist specialist, Owais Ha,ider, has observed that this barrage is likely the strongest of the current monsoon. According to him, the city should expect rain on Monday on the outskirts of the town, while in the central city, rain will be expected from Tuesday to Thursday. During this period, heavy showers will also be expected, which has caused fears of urban flooding. In addition, Haider has stated that there will be more rain in various parts of Karachi on Friday.

The Weather in Karachi for the next 24 Hours

On the other hand, PMD has also issued the weather forecast for Karachi for the next twenty-four hours. In the city, hot and humid weather is anticipated, and the maximum temperature is expected to go as high as thirty-six degrees centigrade. The relative humidity is indicated at 70 percent, although the southwest monsoon sea breeze is prevalent at 27 kilometers per hour.

As the upcoming spell of monsoon rains approaches Karachi, residents are expected to keep track of weather news and precautions and stay safe, especially in flood-prone low-lying areas. It is the nature of heavy rain precipitation and metropolitan flooding that such citizens must be vigilant and ready for what will come next in terms of harsh weather conditions in the days to come.
