Hafiz Naeem: Return to Islamabad if Agreement Isn’t Implemented

Hafiz Naeem ur Rehman, the Amir of Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan, has issued a 45-day ultimatum to the government. He has warned that if the government does not honor the agreement made with his party, he will lead a stronger movement back to Islamabad. Speaking at a Thanksgiving rally, Hafiz Naeem urged the public to prepare for a nationwide wheel-jam strike, which he might call after August 14. He emphasized that the countdown had begun and that after 45 days, the Jamaat-e-Islami would return to the capital with greater force.

Demand for Accountability and Action

During his speech, Hafiz Naeem urged the government to be bold. Only their strength could halt the movement if the people’s demands were addressed. He disclosed that they obtained a written guarantee from the government, with ministers signing the agreement. Despite this, they have postponed the protest rather than canceling it. They will continue the movement to ensure the agreement is implemented.

The Jamaat-e-Islami leader also called for an independent foreign policy and stressed the need to free Pakistan from the influence of the US, the IMF, outdated rulers, and big industrialists. He encouraged the head of the armed forces staff, General Asim Munir, to explore the supposed thought twice about Kashmir during General Bajwa and Imran Khan’s residencies and illuminate the general population through the Between Administrations Advertising (ISPR).

Warning to the Government

Hafiz Naeem clarified that the government must fully implement the signed agreement. “If you agreed, you have to fulfill it,” he asserted, adding that only 44 days remain as the countdown started from the day of the agreement. He criticized the ruling elite and the IMF for jointly destroying the country and vowed that Jamaat-e-Islami would be the party to strengthen Pakistan’s economy.

They also addressed the issue of the Finality of Prophethood, stressing that it concerns the entire nation and demanding a review of any decisions that compromise it. He sarcastically remarked on the government’s announcement of a 77-paisa reduction in electricity prices, stating that such a minor reduction would not satisfy the public’s demands. Hafiz Naeem emphasized that no one can stop the growing public awareness and hinted at announcing a comprehensive plan after August 14.

Support from Party Leadership

Vice Amir of Jamaat-e-Islami Liaqat Baloch also spoke at the rally, affirming that Hafiz Naeem’s plan would lead to Pakistan’s actual realization. He warned those who signed the agreement not to backtrack, as the rally serves as a message to them that swift and decisive action is the hallmark of a true believer.

During a press conference earlier, Hafiz Naeem emphasized that the Jamaat-e-Islami had achieved its goals from the recent sit-in, which they had only postponed, not ended. He stated that the party had reached a detailed agreement with the government, giving it time to implement the agreed terms and urging the government to reduce its expenses to avoid further unrest.
