Gaza Bombardment: 25 Killed, Baby Born from Dead Mother

Saturday saw 25 more Palestinians, including three children and a woman, killed in the ongoing Israeli air assault on Gaza. This time the Israeli forces targeted Jabalia, Nuseirat, and Al-Bureij refugee camps with three separate strikes.

A Tragedy in Nuseirat Camp

Ola Al-Kurd was shot dead while pregnant on her way home to Nuseirat. She was taken to Al Awda Hospital where her baby was delivered successfully by doctors. Dr. Raed Al-Saudi, Head of Obstetrics Department noted that the baby was born in a critical condition but later stabilized after being put on oxygen and receiving other medical attention. The child is currently monitored through an incubator.

More Deaths and International Ramifications

The recent Israeli attacks over the past two days have led to 71 deaths and more than 200 injuries so far; Gaza’s Ministry of Health has revealed. Since these attacks began, a total number of 38,919 Palestinians have been killed and another 89,622 injured.

Meanwhile off the coast of Yemen’s Red Sea region Houthi forces attacked a British merchant vessel. The incident followed last Friday’s drone attack by Houthis on Tel Aviv that killed one Israeli citizen. As possible casualties loom large Israel bombarded the Houthi-held Yemeni port of Hodeida yesterday Saturday.

Responses and Political Consequences

The Houthis’ Health ministry revealed that eighty people were burned during bombings in Hodeida. It has been noted that this was Israel’s first-ever artillery strike from such a distance as 1800 kilometers. Without further revelations, Israel’s Defense Minister warned that his country would respond if such were to continue. Following the Yemen attack, Prime Minister Netanyahu said they will not hesitate to protect themselves by all means necessary including airstrikes targeting terrorists positioned at their borders.

Lebanon’s Hezbollah Movement condemned Israel for what it called ‘a new dangerous phase’ in the attack on Yemen.

The continued violence underlines a conflict that is deeply rooted and complicated within Gaza with wider implications for the Middle East. The international community is watching as events unfold keeping an eye out for further escalations that might lead to humanitarian crises.
