Five Kashmiri youth lost their lives in two incidents recorded in the Kulgam district of occupied Kashmir. While two Indian soldiers were also killed. The continuous violence taking place in the area exposes heightened tensions and human rights violations faced by the native population.
Search Operation in Modergam Village Five Kashmiri Youth
Indian armed forces, including the central reserve police force, in conjunction with the paramilitary, conducted a supposed search operation at Modergam village, located in Kulgam district, as per information from the Kashmir media service. It was aimed at searching for militants through house-to-house searches.
Clash During Search Operation
A soldier died due to gunfighting when an Indian army spokesperson said that one of the houses during this very search operation opened fire. India’s forces responded by destroying a house, thereby revealing the body of an armed young man. This action exemplifies their aggressive approach, reminiscent of British colonial-style operations, often resulting in civilian casualties and property destruction.
Destruction in the Freesam Area
This happened just after what had occurred at Modergam, where another violent clash occurred in the Freesam area of Kulgam. Indian forces heavily shelled a house until it was demolished to achieve this goal. During this attack, they killed four more youths from Kashmir, and one Indian soldier also lost his life. According to the Indian army sources, two terrorists are still hiding around; hence, security forces have imposed a cordon and launched a search operation on them.
Incident Near Rajouri
Firing has taken place near an Indian military camp at Rajouri, according to more reports received here today. Such an occurrence injured one soldier. According to unverified details, insurgents attempted to attack the Manjakot Army Camp all night. With gunfire reported until early morning. Resulting in one jawan getting wounded in the clash. This is intensifying violence and creating a sense of insecurity in the region.
The ongoing violence and heavy-handed military operations in occupied Kashmir continue to claim the lives of both Kashmiris and Indian soldiers. The destruction of property, loss of civilian lives, and persistent military presence highlight the dire human rights situation in the region. These incidents in Kulgam and Rajouri underscore the urgent need for international attention and intervention to address the ongoing conflict and to protect the rights and lives of the Kashmiri people.
