Finance Minister Discusses Budget with PBC and KP Leaders

 

Federal Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb met with a delegation from the Pakistan Business Council (PBC). And individuals of the National Assembly from the merged districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and the Malakand Division.

Inclusion of Business Council’s Proposals Finance Minister 

During the meeting with the PBC delegation. The Finance Minister emphasized the government’s aim to contain the Council’s proposals into the imminent federal budget for the subsequent 12 months. He assured that they could make decisions through mutual consultation to ensure favorable outcomes for the public. And the enterprise network. The minister highlighted the ongoing efforts of the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) to bring the retail zone into the tax net. And broaden the tax base. The delegation acknowledged the government’s efforts towards economic stability. Discussed budget-related matters and offered their suggestions regarding taxation.

Recognition of Business Insight Finance Minister 

The Finance Minister appreciated the insights provided by the Business Council and assured that their suggestions would be considered as much as possible when finalizing the budget. He recognized the significance of the Council’s proposals in shaping finance that balances the needs of the general public and the commercial enterprise quarter.

Meeting with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Representatives

In a separate meeting, representatives from the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa region. Led by former Speaker Asad Qaiser. Included members from the Chamber of Commerce. Asad Qaiser pointed out that the state had promised 860 billion rupees. But has only delivered 103 billion rupees so far. He highlighted that despite the merger of FATA (Federally Administered Tribal Areas) into Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The provinces had not yet contributed their share in the NFC (National Finance Commission) Award. The meeting also addressed issues related to development projects, law and order. And the opening of trade routes with Afghanistan.

Concerns and Assurances

The Assembly members expressed their concerns over a new military operation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Stressing that imposing taxes on factories in the tribal areas would be unjust. They reiterated that during the merger, an agreement was made to exempt. These areas from taxes for a certain period, and this exemption should be maintained. The Finance Minister assured them that their issues would be resolved. And that their concerns were being taken seriously.
