Faisal Vawda Criticizes PTI & Govt in Fiery Senate Speech

 

Senator Faisal Vawda has used some carefully chosen words as one may put it in an interview with journalist Meher Bukhari. In connection, Vawda voiced sweeping remarks about his former political party in Pakistan, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PT). Vawda’s comments too made mention of the present government in place, with a suggestion that rather than decisive action, it preferred to sit on the fence, dawdling.

Faisal Vawda is of the opinion that there is no way PTI can hold a successful rally in Lahore. Vawda asked how the PTI founder is now able to speak against such individuals when he used to have cordial relations with them all. To his suggestion, the party’s head was very much into mentioning them on the podium, which he then retracted when the circumstances were not favoring him anymore.

Vawda took issue with the administration explaining as a deficiency the performance of the government and in particular, its inability to act. He posited that the fact at the current situation hostility has not risen to the level as one that calls for the overthrow of the incumbent is owing primarily to the fact that the incumbent is not in constitutional control. Vawda was particularly blunt in his frustration over the ambivalence of the presidency saying that the presidency should not be deferent on vital issues. Moreover, Vawda apprised that the accountability of General Faiz Hameed should not stop at a court martial. It should also extend to the unmasking of the political leadership and the military leadership including General Faiz Hameed. .

99% Chance of PTI Founder’s Trial in Military Court

Faisal Vawda predicted that there is a 99 percent possibility that the PTI founder will be put on trial by a military court. This statement corresponds to Vawda’s view that there is something much deeper in respect of the former leader of PTI and her involvement with the establishment, and justice would require such steps. He contended that political arm twisting as done by PTI has brought about such a situation which warrants such legal drastic measures.

At the same time, PTI Secretary General Salman Akram Raja joined the argument by expressing his disapproval on the breach of parliament decorum.

Raja condemned the arrests of PTI members in Parliament and demanded an inquiry into the actions.

These comments sparked outrage, leading to a disorderly Senate session. PTI Senator Falak Naz Chitrali retaliated with language deemed inappropriate, prompting the Senate Chairman to suspend her for two days.

During the heated session, Vawda expressed anger toward PTI members, accusing them of seeking the establishment’s help, naively believing it would bring them back into politics. He criticized the party for engaging in actions that undermined political stability, concluding that their motives were self-serving rather than patriotic.

Shibli Faraz Defends PTI’s Position Faisal Vawda

In response to Vawda’s statement, Opposition Leader Senator Shibli Faraz emphasized in various reports that PTI should not be underestimated. He firmly stated that PTI members are not enemies of the nation and should not be compared to those under siege in Gaza. Faraz also condemned the forced removal of incarcerated PTI members from Parliament, calling it a violation of democratic principles. He cautioned the administration against fanning dissension and animosity to the citizenry, insisting that PTI is not the other Pakistan but the other Pakistan.

Faraz went on that, as usual, self interest continued to be an impediment to good governance and in fact in this case it led to a situation where the government failed to care for the crumbling nation. He believed that in the soon upcoming elections, the government will use other ways of propaganda especially vote rigging forms like Form 47 to maintain its power.

The conflicts playing out between Faisal Vawda and the PTI leaders demonstrate the political turmoil that continues to bridge in Pakistan. Even when the important actors condemn the government as well as the PTI, it will be interesting to find out how this scenario will play out. Whether political trial, bargaining or off the target protests take it in turn or in combination like at present the future of the politics of Pakistan remains dark and humbling.
