Federal Minister for Law Prime Minister Nazeer Tarar emphasized the imperative of justice delivery during a speech at a condolence reference in Rawalpindi. He stated that it is incumbent upon the judiciary to ensure swift dispensation of justice, echoing the need to overhaul the antiquated system of justice, which he declared as a collective responsibility.
Addressing the audience, Tarar underscored their commitment to facilitating justice for all, affirming that they will actively seek input from the Bar Council to initiate reforms to modernize the outdated justice framework. He highlighted their legislative efforts grounded in military principles. He acknowledged the substantial reforms required to revamp the inefficient justice system, stressing that such reforms should be a priority for all stakeholders.
The Minister lamented the recent tragic incident in Attock Khachiari. Where a lawyer was killed, describing it as a significant test and challenge for both the government and the justice system. He reassured the public that justice would prevail. Emphasizing a commitment to fairness and ensuring that even those accused of wrongdoing receive due process. Tarar noted that the perpetrator involved in the lawyer’s killing has already been apprehended, signaling swift action by law enforcement.
In further remarks, Tarar advocated for closer collaboration between the legal fraternity and the judiciary. Urging the judiciary to treat lawyers respectfully and not to label them as terrorists or contributors to corruption unjustly. He was absolutely against the idea of attaching lawyers with acts of terrorism, which would imply that, according to him. This discredits the entire justice system. He promised to protect lawyers’ reputations and insisted on a fair legal process for everyone.
Tarar pledged to fight for effective, transparent, and accountable judicial reforms before concluding his speech. He believed in an impartial judiciary so much, without favor or discrimination towards anyone. While maintaining that the legal system must adapt to changing societal needs. He said stakeholders such as legal professionals should work together more closely than ever to ensure justice for people.
