The once Republican Dick Cheney has fortified his position in the limelight by declaring support for political adversary Kamala Harris. Dick Cheney held the office of the Vice President of the United States under President George Bush. And is branded as one of the key architects of the Republican Party. This move was born out of his deep hatred of Donald Trump, the Republican nominee.
Dick Cheney Disapproval of Trump
In a recent statement, she expressed her apprehension towards Trump claiming that. “Donald Trump is the single greatest threat to our republic that I have ever encountered.” He later branded Trump as delusional. Accusing him of seeking to erase the 2020 elections through various forms of deceit. And terror, such as the January 6 Capitol riots. Cheney remarked that Trump is not fit to hold any office of trust in the republic of the United States again when she said, “As citizens, we each have a duty to put country above partisanship to defend our constitution.”
Support from the Harris Campaign Dick Cheney
The endorsement from Cheney was indeed embraced by Kamala Harris’ campaign. For her part, Harris’s campaign chair Jen O’Malley Dillon said: “The vice president is grateful to Vice President Cheney and admires his readiness to sacrifice democracy for the welfare of the country.” Cheney’s endorsement is an addition to the list of some republicans apprehensive with Trump’s race and presidency.
Liz Cheney’s Involvement
Having previously served as a Republican Congresswoman, Liz Cheney has followed quite literally in the footsteps of her father. Unsurprisingly, she did not shy away from speaking out against President Trump. A member of the House select committee inquiring into January 6 insurrection, she was also one of the 10 house Republicans supporting impeachment against Trump after the Capitol riot. Liz Cheney, who had been in Congress until the year 2022, lost her seat to a candidates republican nominee endorsed by Trump; that was not her last attack on Mr. Trump. During a public event in Texas, she expressed her father’s admiration for Harris.
Trump’s Response
Cheney had been endorsed by Donald Trump’s supporters, and Trump fired back at Cheney with his own Twitter. It is not the first time Trump has called RINO, this time against Liz Cheney. Trump has made this comment about Liz Cheney as the “King of Endless, Nonsensical Wars,” in reference to Cheney’s continuous support of the Iraq War, furthering the already Godfather-like feud between Trump and the Cheneys.
Cheney stepped down as a congresswoman from Wyoming after endorsing Harris. Raising the nagging ideological schism plaguing the Republican Party. And strains underlying all the worries about Trump Being.
