Cyclone Moves Away from Karachi, Expected to Weaken in the Sea

The imminent tropical cyclone Asna, which had been threatening the coastal belts of Sindh, Karachi included, seems to be moving away. Its position and construction have progressed to October 2023, as the cyclone presently sits in the northeastern part of the Arab Sea. It is now moving to Oman’s coastline, leaving behind Balochistan’s coastline.

Cyclone’s Current Position and Expected Path

From the direction of the winds and investigations of its movements, we see and say that cyclone Asna will not make landfall on any of the coastal regions shortly. The hurricane will likely downgrade and move across the ocean in a few days with little or no danger to land. The meteorological department has released the desire for cyclonic conditions, claiming that the systems tend to be strengthening and are now in a depression phase. This depression will potentially induce weather in Gujarat and Rajasthan, India.

Potential Impact on Sindh

The cyclone projection models have also indicated more southern deviation of the cyclone-enhancing impacts. Discouraging the cyclone projection models from further reconsidering the cyclone. Chun may not directly bring the water-laden winds that carry incessant rainfall to the eastern forests of Sindh. East Sindh will still feel the hurricane’s aftermath within the next eight to ten days. Still, however, the meteorological department has warned that the impact of the cyclone in the storm-prone city of Karachi and other coastal savannahs of Sindh remains premature.

Rainfall Pattern in Karachi

In Karachi, the city residents observed light to moderate rainfall in various degrees during the early hours. Nazimabad, Saddar, Kharadar, Defence, Korangi, Qayyumabad, Nursery, PECHS, and Tariq Road received drizzles. The rains that commenced early in the day were relayed in varied proportions in the various regions of the city.

Long-term Rain Forecast

Weather forecasts indicate that all Karachi residents might need to moderate their outdoor activities as rainfall could continue intermittently throughout the day. People should stay cautious and watch weather updates, as conditions can change in seconds.

As Cyclone Asna appears to be receding, heavy rains and possible flooding continue. Indirect ramifications rampage in parts of Karachi and the coastal plain of Sindh. People must pay attention to the weather reports to take the necessary steps.
